Sadza & Chilli Sausage Stew
I was feeling a bit traditional and I decided to make Sadza. Sadza is a traditional for Zimbabwe. Its very easy to make because it consists of 2 Ingredients only, which are mealie meal and water. Other African countries refer to it as fufu and they some of them add salt to it. but it all depends on preferences. But most Zimbabweans do not add salt to it and that includes me.
INGREDIENTS:
Sadza:
Mealie Meal
Water
Sausage Stew:
Red pepper
Red Chilli
Spring onion
Chilli Powder
Fresh Parsley
Peas
Tomatoe Puree
Curry Powder
Bisto/Cornflour
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Make sure you have a pot with a handle. Boil water in your kettle
2. Add about 150g of mealie meal and add 150ml of luke warm water and keep stirring until the mealie has completely mixed in with the water and they are no lumps.
3. Gradually add the hot water that you boiled to the pot and continue stirring in the process. When the mixture starting boiling on making popping sounds, close the pot with the lid and leave it for 6mins.
4. Gradually add mealie meal to the boiling mixture and keep mixing until its thick (make sure it doesn't get too thick).
5. Reduce your heat to low and let the sadza simmer for about 3 mins and its ready to serve!
Sausage Stew
1. Cut your sausage into little pieces and pour 2 tablespoons of cooking oil into your pan and fry the sausages.
2. Chop your fresh parsley, red pepper, chilli and spring onion and add to the sausages. Keep mixing until cooked. and add your tomatoe puree
3. Add your peas, chilli powder and curry powder and 1/2 cup water into the mixture and let it simmer for 5mins on low heat.
4. If the mixture is watery you can add a tablespoon of Bisto or Cornflour.
